The Hot White Chocolates aims to authenticly recreate the orchestral type of jazz from the late twenties. Our concerts are held as radio shows, with an MC, commercials, and the occasonal call from an angry listener. We also like to play for dancing, if you know how dance to our music - for instance at our yearly Gatsby Ball.
Kringkastingsselskapet A/S ("The Broadcasting Company") was Norway's first radio broadcasting service and operated out of Oslo from 1925 until 1933, when it was taken over by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). (Wikipedia)
Our stage shows, we emulate a radio show happening sometime at the brink of the 1920s, held by the company.. The shows comprise actual advertisement songs published during the period and material from ads we've found in old newspapers.
The Gatsby Ball is a yearly event, where we recreate a dance evening as it was in the 1920's. Prior to the event, classes are offered in Charleston and Foxtrot, the most popular jazz dances of the day. At the Gatsby Ball, nothing is too glamourous. Bring your feather boas and pearl tiaras, your white tie tuxedos and tails!
